The AI Assist: Strategies for Integrating AI into the Very Human Act of Teaching

In Christian schools, we are called to create communities where every student—of every ability—is welcomed, valued, and supported as a unique image-bearer of God. The AI Assist offers practical insight into how artificial intelligence can enhance the deeply human, relational, and inclusive work of teaching. This book study invites educators to explore how AI can expand access, strengthen individualized support, and help teachers invest more fully in the students in their classrooms.

Together, we will explore:

Christ-Centered Stewardship of Technology

What does it look like to steward AI in ways that uphold dignity and belonging every learner? We will examine biblical and ethical principles for using technology to support diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities, while ensuring that human connection remains central.

Practicing Discernment in AI Use—for Ourselves and Our Students

AI tools can empower teachers with new strategies for differentiation, accommodation, and accessibility. Yet they also require thoughtful discernment. We will consider how to model wise use of AI, guide students in using it responsibly, and protect learners—especially those who may be more vulnerable—from misuse or over-reliance. Participants will explore how discernment becomes an act of love and advocacy.

Impact on Social-Emotional and Spiritual Development

Students with disabilities often rely on strong, trusting relationships with teachers and peers. As AI becomes part of the learning environment, how do we ensure it strengthens rather than weakens the social-emotional fabric of the classroom? We will examine how AI can support communication, reduce anxiety, and provide scaffolds for participation—while ensuring that empathy, connection, and Christlike character remain at the heart of learning.

Alignment with All Belong Fundamentals

Inclusive Christian education is rooted in practices that help every student belong and thrive. This study will explore how AI can support the All Belong Fundamentals by enabling differentiated instruction, increasing access to curriculum, and providing tools that amplify teacher capacity. We will also evaluate potential risks, ensuring that technology always serves inclusion rather than unintentionally creating new barriers.

By the end of this study, participants will understand how to integrate AI in ways that honor Christ, support diverse learners, and strengthen the inclusive communities we strive to build. This is more than a conversation about technology—it is a reflection on how we, as Christian educators, can use new tools to help every student experience belonging, growth, and the fullness of who God created them to be.
